WHAT IS THE
MONTESSORI PROGRAM?

The Montessori Program provides a home-like environment setting, scaled to help prepare and empower children as a whole. Children are guided to work at their own pace according to their interests.

This philosophy was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, in the 1900’s in Italy. Her scientific approach to education is to shape around the individual needs of the child. Her goal was to develop the child and their whole personality through a curriculum that is focused on spontaneous use of the human intellect.

Built on three primary fundamentals – observation, individual liberty, and preparation of the environment –together provides a special environment , where the child could freely choose from a number of developmentally appropriate activities.

Montessori Teaching focuses on the child’s experience, characterized by self-directed activity, where the teacher’s key role is to model and observe.

The teacher in a Montessori environment is called a “ guide”. The environment is adapted to the child , catering to their development. Ensuring each child is set for success, all furniture, items and activities in the environment are child sized and thoughtfully considered. Children learn through physical hands-on experiences , including the use of their 5 senses.

Unlike a traditional-style classroom where children transition as a class through majority of daily activities , listening, watching or reading , Montessori Classroom offers a nurturing environment that provides opportunities for children to work and explore independently or with their peers in areas of the following:

PRACTICAL LIFE

To develop daily living skills, and strengthen fine motor skills.

SENSORIAL

To explore the 5 senses ( Sound, Sight, Hear, Touch, Taste), along with classifying and building vocabulary.

LANGUAGE

Phonetic Sound recognition, enrichment in vocabulary, writing, reading, story building and rhyming – in preparation for kindergarten/elementary school.

ARITHMETIC

Practice in counting, numeral recognition, understanding of quantity and arithmetic symbols. A progression in using concrete materials to develop gradual understanding into abstract concepts.

CULTURAL

Introducing geography, history, art, botany, zoology and Science.  Creating an awareness and appreciation for the physical world and all that it encompasses.

During the class, children will also get opportunities and the option to join circle-time: (Singing songs, dancing, group games, and story reading.)

What is the

Creative Learning Program:

The Creative Learning Program is interactive and focuses on guiding and empowering children to learn through purposeful play. Bridging children’s understanding to literacy, arithmetic, as well nurtures children’s social, daily-living and problem solving skills.

An afternoon program inspired by Maria Montessori’s “Cosmic Education” teaching. Believing children should first be enriched and taught the interconnectedness of the world, by which they can then use their concrete understanding as a tool to extend their level of imagination. Organically on their own, achieve the ability to differentiate between factual and imaginary.

Each play item and play structure used in our afternoon program is carefully and thoughtfully considered before being implemented into the classroom environment. This program provides a different theme each month ( eg. Ocean, Solar System, Family, Spring, Kindness etc ). Fun-crafts, story-telling ,songs and classroom group discussions, will be planned according to the theme of the month.

At Kindle Montessori, providing a dedicated time and space for children to freely express their inner creativity and imagination is equally important as providing a well-prepared environment for children to gain knowledge and independence.
